Worlds Oldest Longleaf Pine #Longleafpine

The Worlds Oldest Longleaf Pine is right here in North Carolina not to far from my house . Several years ago I made it a point to go find it with nothing more than a general location and a picture in hand.   I wandered around for about an hour and then I found it!   This Tree is NOT the biggest one in the area. But, it is most certainly the most gnarly looking one for sure.  Right now as of  August of 2023 this tree is somewhere around 485 years old!!

Here is the base of this Old tree

Here is an aerial shot the yellow circle denoting the general area of this Tree

Here is a Bigger one that has to be over 400 years old.  This tree has a white ring on it which denotes it has a Red Cockaded Woodpecker nest/hole in it.   There are lots of these in this area.

Here is the video where I found this old Tree

Sams Quest for his First #Roanoke Bass

Here is a writeup written by Saw Wilson The owner of the now defunct American River Fishing Forums where he and myself fished the Eno River trying to get him his first Roanoke Bass Ambloplites cavifrons.  This is  from 2007.  This forum was a wonderful site full of great fishermen and I made many great friends on there .  Thanks Sam.
